Booking your child’s first appointment
You can book your child’s very first dental visit as soon as the very first tooth erupts in their oral cavity, or simply, by their first birthday. We know this might seem very young, but it is the perfect age to get them used to seeing a dentist in Adelaide.
This first visit is just an examination to check that their teeth and jaw are developing normally and to help you with any questions or concerns you might have about keeping their teeth clean at home.
We suggest regular six-monthly visits as a child’s dental health can change quite quickly and regular check-ups allow us to detect any small changes to their oral health.
Discover preventive dental treatments for children
Preventive treatments are designed specifically with children in mind include fluoride applications, fissure sealants and mouthguards. We can also provide custom night guards for clenching and grinding.
Fluoride treatment: Fluoride is very important for young teeth and helps to harden tooth enamel, increasing its resistance to decay.
Custom mouthguards: A well-fitted, custom made mouthguard can protect your child’s teeth and jaw.
Fissure sealants: Fissure sealants are another great treatment and involve the application of a thin layer of hard-wearing plastic, similar to the material used to fill teeth. This protects the chewing surfaces of back teeth. We can only use this treatment on healthy, cavity-free teeth which is why we suggest applying fissure sealants right after your child’s molars have fully erupted in the oral cavity.
